From the President of NERALLD: Here it is March and IÍm once again frantically trying to finish the NERALLD newsletter so that I can get it out to you in a timely manner. Like so many of us, I spend much of my day wearing too many different hats while also responding to countless e-mail and phone requests for help. But there is hope! At our April meeting, we will be discussing our relationships with faculty and how we can better serve their needs and improve our sanity all at the same time. We are also going to try something new (or at least new for me!) and devote the afternoon portion of our program to some small group discussions. It should provide all of our members with an opportunity to talk and share their ideas in a more informal setting. Some of you may remember that we had plans to include Ursula Williams, IALLT President-Elect on Spring program. Unfortunately, she has had a recurrence of the cancer that she successfully fought off a couple of years ago. IALLT has set-up a BLOG where people can leave messages for her and her family (http://blogs.brown.edu/user/ursula). Even if you never met Ursula, I encourage you to go and visit this site because she is truly an inspirational woman. I look forward to seeing all of you at BC on April 2nd!

Business Matters! |
At our Fall meeting, a subcommittee was appointed to study the benefits of tax-exempt status for non-profit organizations and to revise the NERALLD by-laws so that we might obtain tax-exempt status. To date, we still have only two volunteers for that committee. Please contact Mary Morrisard-Larkin (mmorrisa@holycross.edu) if you would be interested in joining. Also at our Fall meeting, several NERALLD members expressed an interest in applying for grant funding that would allow NERALLD to develop a tech-show that we could take on the road to schools who are interested in learning more about technology. If you know of funding that we could apply for or are interested in working on a proposal, please contact Mary Morrisard-Larkin mmorrisa@holycross.edu Mary Simone of UMass-Boston is making plans to attend the CALICO Convention in June. She is looking for someone to share a room with. Please contact her at Mary.Simone@umb.edu if you are interested. |
